Stan and Peacock: The NBCUniversal shows it will stream

Everything from The Office to Brave New World.

Streaming service Stan has scored a partnership with NBCUniversal that will see it become the Australian streaming home for original productions for NBC's new US streaming service Peacock, as well as retaining many of its current anchor shows including The Office, Will & Grace and 30 Rock.

"This marks the first time an agreement combining series from Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation and Peacock content produced by Universal Studio Group has been secured in Australia – the biggest new slate of premium scripted content to come to market in recent times," Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said in a statement announcing the deal. The partnership is set to run for "multiple years", though Stan didn't disclose an exact figure.

It's a timely move for Stan, which has faced the prospect of its catalogue shrinking as its existing deal with Showtime comes to an end and other series jump ship. Earlier this week it announced plans to ramp up production of original series in Australia, with a goal of producing 30 new series a year. It seems likely Stan will try and resell some of those new titles to Peacock.

Which NBCUniversal shows will come to Stan?

The key attraction for Stan is clearly the new originals being produced for Peacock. Those include:

Stan will also score new shows produced by NBCUniversal for other outlets, including Muslim female punk band drama Lady Parts, and shows from Sky Studio in the UK.

Not all the shows NBCUniversal owns the rights to will be exclusive to Stan. NBCUniversal signed a content deal with Foxtel last year, and many of its older library series are available on BINGE.
