Uber Eats Sydney already has 104 restaurants registered but is that enough to compete with Menulog and Deliveroo?
UberEATS, which expands the ride-sharing service into food delivery, officially launched in Sydney earlier this week, having opened in Melbourne earlier in the year. So far, it only covers a small part of central Sydney and Bondi. Does it have enough restaurants on its books to compete with existing rivals Menulog and Deliveroo, which have been in operation much longer?
We've rounded up all the restaurants on offer through Menulog, Deliveroo and UberEATS in the central Sydney locations where UberEATS is currently on offer. What did we discover?
- MenuLog has by far the broadest range of choices, with 400 providers in the central Sydney area. (That number includes convenience stores and alcohol providers which offer delivery through Menulog.) Deliveroo is in second place with 170, followed by UberEATS with 104.
- Just four restaurants are available on all three services: Delhi By The Way, Maya Da Dhaba, Pablo's Kitchen and The Colonial.
- Of the 104 restaurants available through UberEATS, 82 are not available through either Menulog or Deliveroo. That means that if you want to get home delivery with a wide variety of choices, you'll need to be signed up with all three.
