Save the date – 8 September will see Apple unveiling its next generation of must-have tech.

Apple continues to claim dominion over the month of September. In just a few hours' time, the tech juggernaut will be revealing its latest mobile hardware at the Apple Far Out event.

From the iPhone 14 to Apple Watch Series 8, here's what you can expect to see at Apple's Far Out event and how you can tune in.

When is Apple Far Out?

The Apple Far Out event will take place on 8 September at 3am AEST. Once again, Australian tech fiends will find themselves solemnly setting their alarms to catch the first glimpse of Apple's latest offerings.

How to watch Apple Far Out

You'll be able to livestream the Apple Far Out event on YouTube, the Apple website or Apple TV app. For a sense of what you'll be in for on 8 September, you can watch last year's September Apple event below.

What to expect

iPhone 14

As usual, the latest and greatest iPhone will be the star attraction of this event. For a comprehensive rundown of the rumours surrounding the iPhone 14, click here.

In brief, the line of phones is likely to see the discontinuation of the iPhone mini. Instead, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max will be added to the line-up. It will serve as a larger edition of the iPhone 14 without the premium functionality of the Pro Max.

Design-wise, the device is expected to closely resemble an iPhone 12. As far as cameras go, you can reportedly expect to see a 48MP camera on the Pro models and the same old 12MP camera on the others. The cosmological artwork Apple is using to advertise the Far Out even has flared up rumours that the iPhone 14 will support astrophotography.

According to reports, the Pro models will also distinguish themselves by doing away with the infamous display notch. Instead, they'll opt for a punch-hole and pill-shaped dual display cutout. Price hikes are expected across the entire line of phones.

You can see some concept renders of the iPhone 14 Pro based on these leaks below.

Apple Watch Series 8

The other headline reveal we're expecting to see at the Apple Far Out event is the Apple Watch Series 8. Once again, if you want to know everything there is to know about this rumoured product, you can check out our complete rundown of all the juiciest rumours here.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is expected to be joined by an updated Apple Watch SE and the more premium Apple Watch Pro. The latter will be designed to appeal to adrenaline junkies who want the fitness-tracking functionality of the Apple Watch in a more rugged and durable form. It is expected to boast a 7% larger screen size and much better battery life.

As far the base Apple Watch Series 8 goes, a design that is very similar to the previous iteration is expected. It's hoped that the launch price of the Series 8 won't exceed that of the Series 7 ($599), while the ultra-premium Apple Watch Pro could have a price tag to rival that of the iPhone 13 Pro ($1,699). That's a staggering potential variation in price which might mean your choice of model will solely depend on your budget.

A body temperature sensor, expansion of atrial fibrillation monitoring and new workout modes have all been tipped to appear.

Anything else?

Most recent rumours have pertained to the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8. However, the Apple Far Out event might be a little light if that's all we see revealed. We wouldn't be surprised to see a few other pieces of tech rolled out.

Likely candidates include the second generation of Apple AirPods Pro, which have recently been tipped to be moving to USB-C charging cases, or possibly new iPads and MacBooks.
