Sheet masks to absolve the 7 deadly skin sins

Picture not described

From nasty breakouts to dry patches that rival the Sahara Desert, these 7 sheet masks work miracles.

I am a firm believer that a sheet mask can cure anything. Is your skin looking a little dull? Pop on a sheet mask. Going through a breakup? Pop on a sheet mask. Celebrating a promotion? Pop on a sheet mask. You get the picture.

All jokes aside, every sheet mask is designed to target a specific problem. So whether you've got a couple of pimples or you're feeling a bit puffy, I've rounded up 7 of my absolute fave sheet masks to cure the 7 deadly skin sins. (Note: They're not actually deadly.)

1. Dry skin: Soap & Glory Speed Plump Miracle Moisture Mask | $8

The Soap & Glory Miracle Moisture Mask is my favourite sheet mask of all time. It's a big call, I know. If you have dry or dehydrated skin, this baby is going to work wonders for you. It's a hydrogel mask packed with rose, peony flower and the fountain of youth AKA hyaluronic acid. It's also a 2-piece mask, which makes it easier to manoeuvre it to fit your face.

Pop it on and gently pat it into your skin to let the jelly juice soak in. Once you've had it on for 20 to 30 minutes, peel it off and massage any excess serum into your skin. I swear on all that is holy, your skin will feel so damn dewy, hydrated and soft after using this. The best part? It's only $8.

2. Tired skin: Patchology Just Let It Glow Moodmask | $7

If your skin is looking a little tired and dull (which after the last 12 months, who could blame it?), whack on the Patchology Just Let It Glow sheet mask. Infused with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, it helps even skin texture, soften fine lines and plump the skin in just 10 minutes.

3. Before makeup: Go-To Transformazing | $9

There are two things I need to start the perfect day: an overpriced soy iced latte and the Go-To Transformazing mask. The brainchild of everyone's fave Aussie skincare mogul Zoe Foster Blake, this sheet mask is the perf way to prep your skin before applying makeup.

This serum-drenched mask contains niacinamide plus Kakadu plum extract and finger lime extract. So not only does it feel amazing, but it smells delish too. It instantly brightens your skin and keeps it lookin' dewy well after you've applied your makeup.

One of these will set you back $9 or you can pick up a pack of 6 for $45.

4. Breakouts: ZitSticka Press Refresh | $49

We're pretty big fans of the ZitSticka range and the Press Refresh sheet mask is no exception. If your spidey senses are tingling that a breakout is on the way, I can not recommend this mask enough. It contains a bunch of exfoliating acids (such as salicylic, glycolic and lactic acid) to help unclog pores, soothe redness and hydrate your skin.

The mask uses penetrative graphene tech, which syncs to your body heat and increases your skin's ability to absorb the ingredients. I get hormonal breakouts every month, but I've found my skin always looks brighter and my pimples are less inflamed the morning after popping this mask on.

At $49 for 5 masks, it's good bang for your buck too.

5. Puffiness: ZOEVA Bright Eye Masks | $60

Whether you had a big night or you didn't quite get your full 8 hours, the ZOEVA Bright Eye Masks will do the trick. You can use them day or night, but I love popping these on for 10 minutes to calm down any puffiness before I put my makeup on in the morning.

They contain caffeine to get the circulation going and reduce and swelling under your eyes. They also contain cucumber, chamomile and green tea to help soothe sensitive skin. Finally, they're packed with raspberry, coconut and blueberry extracts which are rich in vitamin C for more radiant and firmer skin.

These eye masks are vegan and suitable for all skin types, and you can also use them to target other areas like smile lines or above your eyebrows. A pack of 52 will set you back $60, which is pretty reasonable in my humble opinion.

6. Clogged pores: Starskin Silkmud Pink French Clay Purifying Liftaway Mud Face Sheet Mask | $17

This Starskin mask combines the power of pink clay with a sheet mask. If your skin is in need of a good clean, the kaolin clay and cocoon milk extract will help draw out any nasties to clear your pores and soothe inflammation. It also contains tremella mushroom and bentonite clay to buff away dead skin cells and hydrate the skin.

Leave it on for around 20 minutes or until you feel the clay starting to tighten and lift. Then peel it off and give your face a rinse to wash off any powdery residue.

7. Signs of ageing: PMD Beauty Recovery Anti-Aging Collagen Infused Sheet Mask | $60

I don't want to oversell it, but this PMD product is essentially the fountain of youth in a sheet mask. If you're trying to ward off signs of ageing, this is a fab product to include in your weekly routine.

It uses collagen and hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin while minimising fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots. It also creates a protective barrier to guard your skin from environmental factors.

If you like what you hear, you can pick up a pack of 5 for $60.
