Sandy Bay Regatta and Citizenship Ceremony
The Sandy Bay Regatta has been running since 1849, making it one of the longest-running regattas in the world. It's come to be associated with Australia Day in Hobart, complete with the City of Hobart Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.
The celebrations continue to 28 January with the annual Tasman Peninsula Feast finding on Saturday.
Held in Nubeena, which is 1.5 hours east of Hobart, this event sees the sleepy coastal town come alive in celebration of its marine ties. Expect a fishing competition, crab racing, kayaking and bay swimming as well as more Australian-inspired activities such as gumboot throwing.
Hobart plays host to a wide variety of activities from water sports to day cruises, all available this Australia Day.
