Bondi Sands has just entered the cosmetics space – here's your first look at the new Lights highlighters.

Bondi Sands is without a doubt one of the leaders in tanning products. More of us than we'd care to admit owe our smooth golden limbs to this brand. And now this iconic brand is embarking on new territory. Bondi Sands has entered the cosmetics space with a new range of liquid highlighters.

This week, we tried and tested these new glowy products to see if they're worth your cash.

The quick verdict

Why is it good? They're buildable and work on bare or made-up skin.

How much is it? $19.99 for 25mL

Where to buy it? Priceline

New to the Bondi Sands GLO range (which also includes existing body tan products) are the Lights cream highlighters. There are three shades: pearl, gold and bronze. They come in a convenient black tube as per the other products in the GLO range.

The first thing that drew me to these is the clever way these shades have been designed to work with a variety of skintones. I initially thought the pearl was for pale skin so I grabbed the gold and bronze colours. But the pearl shade is warm with almost a rose gold undertone. Lighter highlighters can look chalky and horrible on darker skin, but the pearl shade here has none of that powdery iciness and works just as well on dark skin as the darker colours. Although I'm not sure if it works the other way around, I tried the darkest colour, bronze, on my pale friend and it wasn't the best match. If you're very pale, stick to pearl or gold.

But the all-important question when it comes to highlighters, does it give you a decent glow? Yes, it does. The pigments in these products are very fine so they give a smooth finish and a subtler glow than what you might be used to. This is a big plus for me, I hate highlighters that look like you have a big stripe down your cheek. This one is more about looking healthy and sunkissed with luminescent skin. Take a look at the pictures to see what you think. I applied it on my cheeks and nose.

The other fab thing about this product is that it's a great one to mix in with your foundation or BB cream for subtle all over glow. Since the pigments are so fine, it adds almost a soft blur effect to your face product. If you're someone like me that often deals with spots and rough skin, you'll know that highlighters are your worst enemy. They make any spot look 10 times as big. This product does the opposite and soft focuses the light so spots become less obvious not more.

I also love how this one works over bare skin just as well as over makeup. Many cheek and face products don't really have the same effect or impact unless they're sitting over foundation. But this works really beautifully over bare skin. In fact, I actually liked it better over bare skin. But that's just me.

All in all, I don't think this highlighter will be one for everyone, especially if you love intense, full glam. If you want to liven up your skin, add luminescence and soft blur imperfections, then this is the product for you. It's pretty, buildable and subtle, and I think will become a summer handbag essential.

Affordability

Bondi Sands GLO highlighters are $19.99 for 25mL which I think is a fair price. It's not cheap as chips but it's something most of us can afford.

Where to buy

The Bondi Sands GLO range is exclusive to Priceline but you can pick it up both in-store and online.
