Grey's Anatomy season 19 preview

Season 19 of Grey's Anatomy kicks off with an episode that catches up with the characters 6 months after the previous finale.

For a quick recap, Bailey took a break from the hospital and Meredith and Nick's future seemed unclear.

Owen and Teddy went on the run after resigning, while Maggie wondered whether she and Winston got married too quickly.

Everyone else was dealing with revelations and bumps in the road of their own, which will continue to be explored in season 19.

Additionally, a new group of surgeons arrive to train at Grey Sloan, each with baggage that will likely surface later.

In a bittersweet development, series lead Ellen Pompeo announced that she will only appear in a limited capacity this season.

However, you'll be seeing more of Addison Montgomery, with Kate Walsh recurring in season 19.

The new batch of doctors joining the ranks are played by Alexis Floyd (Inventing Anna), Niko Terho, Midori Francis (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Adelaide Kane (Neighbours, Reign) and Harry Shum Jr (Glee, Shadowhunters).

Change is in the air and the long-running medical drama shows no signs of slowing down.
