I'm personally a big fan of Ole Henriksen. The brand is known for utilising potent active ingredients in fabulous and colourful formulations.
I've tried and loved the Banana Bright Eye Crème. So much so, that it made its way to our list of best eye creams – specifically for dark circles. So it's safe to say that I had high hopes for the new Wrinkle Blur Eye Gel and what it could potentially do for my skin.
What does it do?
Ole, the brand's founder, admired the powerful anti-aging results of retinol, but wanted to find a more gentle and plant-based alternative. Enter bakuchiol, an ingredient that's derived from the Ayurvedic babchi herb and is safe to use every single day.
The Wrinkle Blur Bakuchiol Eye Gel Crème promises to instantly blur the look of fine lines around the eye area. How? It's all thanks to the power of bakuchiol ribbons, peptides and orchid stem cells.
Soy and rice proteins work to reduce puffiness and disguise dark circles, while sandalwood, licorice root and chamomile extracts help to soften and smooth the skin.
Does it work?
While the eye cream can be used during the day, I prefer to use it exclusively at night and use something a little lighter in the morning. I've been using it consistently for around three months now, and I love the instant results.
The formulation is dual action, meaning there's two different phases in the bottle that mix together as you pump the product out. Once you apply it to the skin, you'll notice how smooth your under eyes look. While I don't have a whole lot of wrinkles, I do have some fine lines under my eyes and they completely smooth out when using this product.
In terms of colour and fragrance, the eye cream has a soft lavender tint that works to colour correct, and a slight lemon sugar scent that reminds me of a spa experience.
Should you buy it?
- Buy it if: You want a powerful eye cream that smooths fine lines.
- Don't buy it if: You're looking for an affordable eye cream.
Overall, I give the Ole Henriksen Wrinkle Blur Bakuchiol Eye Gel Crème 4 stars out of 5. It does exactly what it says it's going to do – it smooths fine lines and hydrates the delicate eye area.
While the fragrance doesn't bother me personally, it did lose the product a star, as I find that fragrance is not necessary in skincare, especially in products that are being applied around the eye area.
I also think the price tag of $75 is a little steep. While I loved the results this product gave me and think it has a beautiful formulation, I think you could get a similar effect with something cheaper. Read our guide to the best eye creams for more.
