Tarte Baba Bomb Moisturiser amongst flowers

If winter has your skin crying out for some serious TLC, we recommend adding this heavy-duty vegan moisturiser to cart.

While the cooler weather definitely comes with a few silver linings (such as rugging up in cosy knitwear and drinking your weight in hot chocolate), it can wreak absolute havoc on your skin. Cold air and steamy showers cause the water in your skin to evaporate faster, leaving it with that awful dry and tight sensation.

To help combat the onslaught of uncomfortable, flaky skin, investing in a quality moisturiser is an absolute must. However, if, like me, you also have sensitive skin, the process of finding a product to suit becomes a little more difficult.

Having tried an absolute ton of moisturising products though, I've finally found several products that work for me and Tarte Cosmetics Baba Bomb is at the very top of that list.

The quick verdict

Why is it good? The thick, fragrance-free moisturiser helps to combat seriously dry skin and add plumpness.

How much is it? $63 (50mL) or $28 (17mL)

Where to buy it: Sephora, Tarte Cosmetics online

First impressions

The first big tick of approval for me comes in the form of the product packaging. Taking on Tarte's signature tropical aesthetic, the sturdy plastic tub is certainly fun to look at.

More importantly though, it's fitted with a press-down dispenser lid that helps you avoid the rather unhygienic practice of scooping the moisturiser out of the tub. Instead, you just have to unscrew the lid, gently push down the sides and the perfect amount is squeezed out for you.

Arriving packed full of oils such as Babassu and avocado, the moisturiser smoothes onto skin well and leaves it with a super dewy sheen. Despite this, the product isn't at all greasy and actually feels luxuriously thick in texture.

As an added bonus, the formula is also vegan and completely fragrance-free, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin.

Verdict

While I personally find the Baba Bomb Moisturiser a little thick to use under makeup, I absolutely love it as a night cream. A little bit goes a long, long way and my skin instantly drinks it up, offering immediate relief when it's feeling uncomfortably tight.

Best of all, the hydration hit lasts for hours, meaning that my skin feels plump and moisturised well into the next day. Overall, the product is the ideal winter companion for those with dry, sensitive skin. It is worth noting though, that those with oiler skin will likely find it much too heavy.

Affordability

Priced at $63 for a 50mL tub, the Baba Bomb Moisturiser doesn't come cheap. Given that it is a product better suited to the winter months though, one tub should last you the entire season.

You can also pick up a smaller 17mL tub for $28 if you don't feel like splashing out.

Where to buy

You can shop Tarte's Baba Bomb Moisturiser from both Sephora Australia and the Tarte Cosmetics online store.
