Set in the 20s, this Harry Potter spin-off/prequel follows magizoologist Newt Scamander, author of the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which Harry and his friends studied in school.
Scamander has just completed a global excursion to look for magical creatures and he's in New York. Unfortunately, a misplaced magical case leads to several of his beasts escaping. With a little help from new friends, Scamander needs to recapture the creatures before they wreak havoc in both the real and wizarding world.
A welcome addition to the Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is magical enough to dazzle viewers, especially when it spotlights the intriguing beasts. If you're in the mood for some delightful escapism, you can't go wrong with this one.
