The Little Mermaid preview

The story of The Little Mermaid is probably well-known by now, seeing as the original fairy tale was written back in 1837.

The movie is loosely based on the tale and is the story of a young mermaid named Ariel.

She's the daughter of King Triton and wants to find out more about the world beyond the sea.

On an occasion visiting the surface, she falls for Prince Eric even though mermaids are forbidden from interacting with humans. However, Ariel decides to follow her heart.

She makes a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula to experience life on land.

This ends up not only placing her father's crown in jeopardy, but also her own life.

If you grew up with the classic animated version, you'll see many of the characters return (Sebastian and Flounder), plus some of your favourite songs from the original.

You'll be able to enjoy the movie if you've known and loved the animated version or if you're experiencing the life and journey of Ariel for the first time.
