*Some eBay sellers are actual bricks and mortar stores that allow you to pick up your item from a physical store location.

Why should you use click and collect services?

Click and collect often combines the best parts of online shopping and the in-store experience: You save time and avoid crowds while also saving on shipping costs and return fees.

Many retailers also offer a contact-free click and collect service, so you don't have to hand your credit card to anyone or encounter other shoppers in-store.

How does click and collect work?

Very true to the name, you order and pay for your items online and pick them up in-store or at a designated location selected at the time of purchase (if available).

While each store requires different amounts of time to get your order ready, it can be ready to collect on the same day in many cases.

Most stores will send you a notification via SMS or email to let you know when your item is ready for pick-up.

You'll then need to either go to the register or a collection counter to get your items.

Most stores do require photo ID, especially if you're purchasing alcohol, in order to collect your items.

Is click and collect free?

Often click and collect services will be free (or at least cheaper than the postage cost), but always check the retailer's own website for details. If there is a charge, it's usually only a few dollars.

Instead of charging an additional fee, some sites may require a minimum spend for this service to be worth their while. Usually, it's about how much (or less) you would normally spend on a shop at the store. For example, at Dyson it's $99 and at Cotton On it's $35.

Where are click and collect stores located?

We've noted the available pick-up points for the 90+ Australian retailers we've noted on this page above.

Usually, this service is available at any of the retailer's stores, but check the retailer's website for exact details. Sometimes it's only available at select locations or you'll need to go to the store's distribution centre to pick up your items.

Occasionally, retailers will let you collect at alternate locations, especially if it's a store without a bricks-and-mortar location. For example, if you make a purchase on Woolworths' eBay store, you'll be able to collect your items at a local Woolworths.

Can you click and collect on the same day?

In many cases, yes; sometimes even quicker. Stores like Fantastic Furniture can have your items ready in an hour, and Officeworks can have your order ready for pick-up in as little as 2 hours.

Other stores, like Big W and David Jones, will guarantee your order to be ready on the same day as long as it's ordered before a certain time.

It's recommended to check the retailer's site before ordering in case it does need a few days to get your items from a warehouse or to prepare your order.

As you select the click and collect service on a retailer's website, you should get an estimated day or time for when your order will be ready for collection. If you need the item urgently, never complete your purchase without finding out when it will be ready to pick up. You can always phone the retailer's customer service line if the website isn't clear.

What can't you click and collect?

Prescription medications are generally not available for click and collect. While stores like Chemist Warehouse and Priceline both offer the service, you can only purchase other items like hair products and makeup using click and collect.
