Google’s Pixel 3a is a Vodafone exclusive in Australia

If you're after a Pixel 3a on contract, Vodafone will be your only choice down under.

When Google launched the first generation of Google Pixel phones down under, it did so with Telstra as its exclusive launch partner. That was a story that repeated for the Pixel 2 generation, but when the Pixel 3 rolled into town, it did so with Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.

Google launched the Google Pixel 3a this morning as part of its Google I/O 2019 keynote, noting that it was going on sale in Australia from today. The Google Pixel 3a will cost $649 outright, while the Google Pixel 3a XL will cost $799.

On a carrier basis, everything old is new again, because Google has announced Vodafone as its exclusive carrier partner for the Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL.

Given Vodafone's structure, where phone repayments are entirely separate from plans and spread over your choice of 12, 24 or 36 months, and the lower cost of the new Pixel handsets, that could lead to some very affordable phone plans indeed.

Vodafone hasn't listed its new plan pricing just yet, but we'll update as soon as it does.
