A multi-purpose product that boosts your skin's natural radiance.

Why we love this product

Ole Henriksen is a popular skincare brand, loved by celebrities and social media influencers. There's no doubt you would have seen the pretty and colourful packaging pop up on your Instagram feed. The brand is recognised for using active ingredients and natural botanicals to soothe and treat the skin. I have been using the Ole Henriksen skincare range for a few years now and have been experimenting with different products.

Upon hearing about the release of the face primer, I was incredibly excited. I love it when a skincare brand experiments with makeup and I can't help but think it will be good because the brand already knows how to treat skin. So the make-up should do the same, right? The Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Face Primer is designed to work like skincare. Enriched with vitamin C, this illuminating primer works to seriously brighten the skin, boost radiance and add luminosity.

The quick verdict

Why is it good? It's a multi-purpose product that illuminates and boosts the skin's natural radiance.

How much is it? $48

Where to buy it? Sephora

The Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Face Primer promises to create a natural-looking dewy finish to the skin, as well as improve and extend the wear of makeup. The added vitamin C means that it revives the appearance of the skin and it is meant to glow from within.

I am impressed with the Banana Bright primer as it is perfect for everyday wear, which is something you don't see often from a makeup primer. They are usually designed to only be worn with foundation and work to either improve the wear of makeup or the skin's appearance. Ole Henriksen has nailed it with this new product because it is a multi-purpose product that has become a game changer to my makeup and skincare routine.

It can be worn on its own and will leave your skin with a natural boost of radiance and hydration. But when you wear it with makeup, it looks even better. It's lightweight, which is something I love. This means, it can be worn underneath both a heavy foundation or a light BB or CC cream. Most days, I wear a BB cream and I use the Banana Bright primer underneath to really help my skin glow and look naturally radiant. When I apply foundation over the top, the makeup looks and performs better. The primer provides intense hydration, which will, in turn, make your makeup last longer, as there are no dry patches for your makeup to cling to. The Banana Bright primer overall softens the appearance of fine lines and imperfections.

Ole Henriksen also recommends using the primer over the top of your makeup. How? Dab a little on the top of the cheekbones, using it as a liquid highlight. This was a little out of my comfort zone so I have only experimented with it once – and it did look pretty good.

The Banana Bright primer is versatile as it is great for everyday wear, whether you are going for the "no makeup" makeup look or a full glam look. The primer is coloured with banana powder-inspired pigments which I believe is what helps it provide luminosity. It is based on golden yellow undertones which neutralises any darkness or pigments in the skin.

I apply the Banana Bright primer all over the face with my fingers. You can use it with a foundation brush too but I believe that kind of thing is a personal preference. It's a fast-absorbing product and the product's packaging is very travel friendly which is great if you are on the go – it comes in a squeeze tube with a pump.

It also has a beautiful citrus-like smell which is so delightful when I apply my makeup at six in the morning before work. It feels like a great wake-up call! This smell is consistent through other Ole Henriksen skincare products, specifically the vitamin C infused range.

Affordability

For $48, you receive 30mL of product which I believe is fair because a little bit goes a long way. This primer is priced a little high but it is coming from a brand that is primarily skincare. For how it makes my skin look, I am more than happy to pay the price.

Where to buy

The Ole Henriksen Banana Bright primer is available from Sephora. You can also shop the rest of the brightening range including the Banana Bright Eye Creme and the C-Rush Brightening Gel Creme (which are also amazing).
