Brutally honest Bondi Boost shampoo and conditioner review
I put Instagram's most talked about shampoo and conditioner to the test and here's exactly how it went down.
I'm sure we can all relate to that moment when we sat in the hair salon chair choking back tears because we just had all our hair cut off. It's promptly followed by completely lying and saying through clenched teeth "Oh my gosh, I love it!" but our eyes really say "How could you?!"
So yeah, I get it. I've been there more than once and as much as I want to erase my bob-cut phase from my memory, miracles don't exist.
My hair journey, be it a rocky one, has always had me asking professionals and friends their recommendation on how to get Rapunzel-level hair. Most of the time, the response cost more than I was reasonably willing to pay and the products never really blew me away. But apparently Instagram has the answer and I can tell you, I am LISTENING.
Enter Bondi Boost, the Instagram brand that has graced my feed so many times that I'm finally caving and seeing if it's really worth all the hype.

About the product
The Bondi Boost Hair Growth shampoo and conditioner are organic and Australian made. The brand says its products "boost your roots through an incredible combination of ingredients, formulated by a team of industry experts dedicated to the biology of healthier, stronger and thicker feeling hair".
Bondi Boost launched on Instagram in March 2018 and now has 484,000 followers (as of the 24 September 2020), so it's got to be doing something right. However, this brand has seriously put some cash money into influencer sponsorships so it makes it difficult to judge whether the product does as much as the brand states.
That's where I come in.
I've been dying to try out this product ever since I saw it to see if it's really worth the hype. I had blonde hair for 3 years and recently went back to brown. It means my hair's health has definitely seen better days and I'm honestly willing to try anything that will help its soul.
The review
The first thing I noticed about the Bondi Boost shampoo and conditioner was the smell. The scent is easily the nicest of any shampoo and conditioner I have ever used. The formula includes delicious ingredients like peppermint essential oil and rosemary oil that makes you want to pour the entire bottle on your head in one go.
Anyway, I reluctantly digress because I could easily write an entire article about how this stuff smells.
I also have really thick hair so washing it can definitely be a pain. Luckily, the shampoo lathered really easily and was super simple to work and massage into my hair. The directions said to use only a small amount and for those with thinner hair that's probably accurate but I definitely needed to use more. It also suggested using the products 3 times a week but I only need to wash my hair once. If I did need to wash my hair 3 times a week I could really see myself blowing through this product pretty damn quickly.
The conditioner is a similar story and I needed to use more product than was recommended but I tend to use a lot of conditioner anyway. My poor split ends just need help because they've been through some things.
The first thing I noticed after using this shampoo just once was how clean my hair felt. It really stripped all the gunk and product from my hair and left it feeling light and healthy. I also saw a difference in my curls. They were less frizzy than when I normally allow my hair to dry.

2 months on
It's been nearly 2 months of using this product and to be honest, I'm digging it. Once my hair gets long, the ends get thinner due to breakage.
However, after a significant amount of time using this product I'm ready to have a full-on Bachelor in Paradise commitment ceremony. Whenever a product promises hair growth, I take it with a grain of salt. BUT, this stuff seriously put some super juice in it because even my damn baby hairs started growing?!
I can't explain it but I don't think my hair has been this length AND this healthy in at least 5 years (I had a blonde phase, remember?). I have high standards when it comes to hair care and this product seriously exceeded them. I mean, with all the influencer posts promoting the product I didn't think it was legit. Now, as much as it pains me to say this: I was wrong.
The amount of shine and hydration my hair picked up was also ridiculous. My overall hair health really improved and I know if my hair follicles could personally thank me, they would. As you can see from the before and after below, my hair was a lot dryer and had a lot of breakages. Now while there is no way to reverse split ends except for cutting them, you can really see a difference when both these photos were taken 2 days after washing my hair.
The final verdict
Pros
- The scent is to die for.
- You can feel a difference in hair texture after a few weeks.
- I had fewer split ends and less breakage.
- My ends felt thicker and stronger.
Cons
- 3 times a week is a lot to wash my hair for the "best results".
- It's a little on the expensive side.
Would I buy it again?
If I was ever to not have hair that smelled like this or grew like this anymore then I would no longer have a reason to live. Simple as that. It's easily one of the best shampoos and conditioners I've ever used.
So in other words. Yeah, probs.
Where you can buy it
