Kayo Sports hit the Australian streaming market at the perfect time. While there are several services that offer TV shows and movies, all boasting generous content libraries and great functionality, sports fans used to have limited options when it came to watching their favourite teams via the Internet. Luckily, those days are now a thing of the past.
With Kayo, you can watch over 50 sports live and on demand, on your preferred device, all without breaking the bank. All you need is an Internet connection. The app isn't available on smart TVs yet, so you don't even need a fancy television to keep up, although the team behind Kayo is working to make the service available on more devices in the near future.
As long as you have a compatible device, you can stream Kayo in 4K with its Basic plan.
Until then, you can still enjoy all the sport you can handle on the big screen, in HD, if you're not satisfied with watching solely on your computer or mobile device. Here are all the ways you can stream Kayo without a smart TV:
1. Chromecast
Kayo is compatible with Chromecast Ultra or later models, which means that you can cast Kayo content to your TV using the handy streaming device. All you need to do is download the Google Home App on your iOS or Android device to control your Chromecast. Or, if you prefer to use a Mac or PC, check that you have the latest version of Google Chrome downloaded. You can only cast using a Chrome browser.
Make sure your Chromecast device is properly connected to your TV and power supply and then simply select the cast icon from the app to watch the game you're interested in on the big screen.
2. Telstra TV
To watch Kayo on your TV with Telstra TV, head to the Telstra TV app store and download the Kayo Sports app. Then, put Kayo on your TV's home screen for easy access and you're good to go.
Find out how to bundle Telstra TV on a broadband plan.
3. Apple TV
Kayo Sports is also compatible with Apple TV. Users need to launch the App Store from the TV's home screen to download the app, then sit back and enjoy. It doesn't get easier than that.
4. By connecting your laptop/mobile device via HDMI cable
This may sound like a more complicated option, but it's a great alternative if you don't have a streaming device like the ones listed above. Simply purchase an old-fashioned HDMI adaptor to connect your laptop or tablet to your TV directly.
Then, switch your TV to HDMI mode and you should see the screen from your tablet or computer mirrored on the television. From there, use Kayo Sports as you normally would and you should be able to continue seeing the laptop/tablet screen on your television.
If all else fails, choose another streaming service
While there are several options available to stream Kayo Sports, you may find that your device of choice isn't listed above. If that's the case, you can direct your attention to alternative sports streaming platforms.
The most similar one to Kayo is Foxtel Now with the Sports Package, which is compatible with PCs, Macs, smartphones, tablets, Chromecast, Airplay, Telstra TV, PS4 and the Foxtel Now box.
Or, you can get a streaming service dedicated to your favourite sport. A few options:
