Stan delivers ultra high definition video streaming to Australians, with plenty of local and international content.
Stan is a local streaming service owned by Nine Entertainment. As an on-demand TV show and movie provider with a strong library and local production budget, it's one of Netflix's strongest competitors in Australia.
Stan has content broadcasting rights deals with a variety of producers like MGM and Lionsgate, but also suffered significant content losses with services like Paramount Plus and Disney Plus taking back shows they own. However, the streaming service now offers live sport and doubled down on original content to compensate.
How much does Stan cost?
Stan's streaming plans start at $10 a month for the Basic tier (1 screen, standard definition). New subscribers get a 30-day free trial. Stan's Standard and Premium Plans cost $16 and $21 a month, respectively.

What can I watch on Stan?
Stan has built out its library to now house TV shows and movies. There are obviously too many titles to list here, but we've got regularly updated lists for Stan's TV shows and Stan's movie selection.
One section where Stan excels is original content. The service kicked off local content production back in 2015 with its fly-on-the-wall buddy cop comedy No Activity, before bringing Wolf Creek's Mick Taylor to the small screen in 2016. More titles followed, including favourites like Bump, The Tourist and Black Snow.

Are Stan and Stan Sport the same?
No. Stan is an entertainment streaming service. Meanwhile Stan Sport as its name suggests streams sports. For $15 a month, Stan Sport is available as an add-on to a regular Stan subscription. You need to already have a Stan package to access Stan Sport. While Stan comes with a 30-day free trial, STan Sport has no free trial.
Stan Sport offers live and on-demand coverage of a variety of rugby competitions. On top of that, Stan Sport also shows all of the tennis Grand Slams. You can also watch the UEFA Champions League and more UEFA comps, as well as motorsport such as Formula E, INDYCAR and the World Rally Championship.
