Amazon Big Smile sale is coming: Here’s what to expect

Everything you need to know about Amazon Australia's upcoming Big Smile shopping sale.

Top picks

Amazon Big Smile is an annual sales event that promises substantial savings on fashion, beauty, tech, homewares and more.

It is the marketplace's biggest online sale event, behind Amazon Prime Day. You can expect discounts of up to 70% off across all major categories.

Here are the key things you need to know about the sale, including what to expect and early deals.

What is the Amazon Big Smile sale?

Amazon Big Smile sounds like a teeth whitening sale. In reality, it's a precursor to Amazon Prime Day with a similar selection of deals (albeit not on quite the same scale.)

There will be deals across all major categories with an emphasis on home appliances, apparel and tech.

When is the Amazon Big Smile Sale?

Amazon's Big Smile Sale takes place in the first half of the year, typically around March-April. Dates have not yet been announced for 2025, but we're anticipating it will appear any day now. (So keep your eyes peeled!)

Will the Meta Quest 3 be on sale?

One of the Amazon store's most popular products is the Meta Quest 3. This virtual-reality Meta headset normally retails for $499.99 and has never been on sale.

While we wouldn't bet on Amazon offering a discount during its Big Smile sale, don't rule it out completely. If a deal does materialise, it will likely take the form of a free bundled game or accessory.

What about Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a premium subscription service for Amazon shoppers that costs $6.99 a month in Australia. It offers a whole host of benefits, including:

  • Free 2-day domestic delivery.
  • Free standard international delivery on eligible orders over $49.
  • Prime Video: A Netflix-style streaming service with over 7,000 movies and TV shows.
  • Amazon Music: A Spotify competitor boasting 2 million songs.
  • Prime Reading: Free access to thousands of ebooks, short stories, comics and children's books via the Kindle Store.
  • Prime Gaming: Free access to a selection of PC games, with more added every month (plus free in-game loot for select titles).
  • Access to 12 subscriptions via Prime Video Channels.

You don't need to be an Amazon Prime member to take part in the Big Smile sales event. With that said, joining will grant you access to free shipping and exclusive deals.
