Alternatively, skip the crowds and shop online

How to get the most out of Boxing Day sales

  • Get there early. To avoid missing out on the good stuff, it’s best to arrive before the stores open. You’ll stay ahead of the crowds, get first dibs on discounts and can get out of there early too. If you’re planning to shop the sales online, double check what time the deals will drop. Online stores often beat the regular retailers, sometimes by as much as a day or two.
  • Do your research. Shopping centres, department stores and retailers of all sizes will slash their prices to compete with each other on Boxing Day. That means that the item you’d like to purchase will probably be available in more than one place. Do your research first to find the best price and the best deal.
  • Make a budget. A budget is helpful to avoid overspending. Set yourself a price limit for each item on your list and try to stay within your price range.
  • Come prepared. Comfortable clothes and walking shoes will go a long way to making your day more enjoyable. Remember to eat and pack a bottle of water. If you’re planning on a new wardrobe, wear clothes and shoes that you can easily slip off and on again.
