• When does Qantas have sales?

  Qantas doesn't have any regularly scheduled sales. But it often offers Fly Away sales that can feature deals for a specific destination, region or worldwide.

  The airline constantly offers Red e-Deals, which are its lowest-priced flights on domestic legs.

  You can expect Qantas to offer sales during certain sales periods, such as Australia Day and Boxing Day. In the past, during the lead-up to Christmas, the airline also had a sale for 12 days featuring a new discounted fare each day.

• Do I earn points for Qantas sale fares?

  Yes, Qantas sale fares do earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points. There are 3 factors that determine how many points you get: the type of fare, the distance you fly and your membership status tier (bronze, silver, gold or platinum/platinum one). Longer flights and higher status tier members earn more points. But the type of fare also has a big impact.

  A "sale" fare in the Qantas system is usually classified as a "Discount" fare. So if your fare is Discount Economy, Discount Premium Economy or Discount Business, you'll earn points but at a lower rate than for "Flexible" fares or regular fares. Higher status tiers will still earn more points on these fares.

• Do Qantas sale fares include extras like checked baggage?

  Yes, all Qantas fares, regardless of whether they were purchased as part of a sale, include checked baggage. The airline also includes food, drink and in-flight entertainment with all flights.

• Does Qantas offer a student discount?

  Yes, Qantas offers student discounts to international students.

  The special international student offer is available until 30 June 2022 for travel between 8 March 2022 and 28 February 2023. It’s only available on flights to Australia from Bangkok, Delhi, Manila or Singapore.

• Can I get business discounts on Qantas bookings?

  Yes, Qantas Business Reward program members can save between 5-8% on bookings depending on their membership level.

• How long do I have to book flights in a Qantas sale?

  Qantas Red e-Deals are available year-round, other destination deals usually last for around a month. Qantas’s best sales usually only last a few days or until seats sell out. We’ll always note when a sale ends above.

• Can I use Afterpay when I book flights in Qantas sales?

  No, you can’t book Qantas flights with Afterpay, but you can buy tickets for Jetstar flights and pay for them later.
