EOFY questions you should ask yourself

Get excited bargain hunters, there are some serious sales this end of financial year – but, before you begin, brush up on your shopping skills:

  • Should you get in early or late? The answer of when to buy is a tough one. If you buy early then you guarantee that you'll get that item before it (if it does) sells out. However, if you buy later, you could be looking at a much heftier saving than if you purchased at the sign of the first markdown. What do you do? Ask yourself how much of a bargain it really is and how much you really want it. If it's a huge cut and you need it, then buy it while you can because you'll regret it if it sells out. On the other hand, if you're tossing and turning, chuck it into your online basket and save it for a later date. You never know, it may be discounted further sooner than you think and then who'll be laughing, right?
  • Can you find it somewhere else for cheaper? EOFY might be a time for stores to get rid of their stock, but it's also a time for them to make some cash really quickly. Before buying your wares, do a quick browse around our deals pages to see if you can't get it for less somewhere else or by using a coupon.
  • Can you claim it back on tax? With the end of financial year looming, so does that all important tax return. Have a peek at how much you can claim back off tax and whether your receipts match up. If you want to really push the sales, purchase items you can claim back to get even more bang for your buck. For example, did you know that small businesses can now claim tax on purchases up to $20,000? True story.
